“Both students I tutored developed confidence in themselves and appeared to enjoy having one-to-one assistance in developing reading and writing skills. This program offered Better Basics volunteers the opportunity to reinforce classroom instruction in a positive way. Students also treasured receiving personal books at the end of each lesson. This increases a love of reading and learning.”
“Before tutoring my daughter did not want to read and it was a struggle to try and encourage reading. However, when she began tutoring she bonded with her tutor and referred to her as a friend. She wanted to read at home and took delight in reading.
