Give Books

Access to books in the home is one of the strongest predictors of academic success for children, yet it’s also where we see some of the greatest disparities. In middle-income neighborhoods, there are about 13 books for every child. In low-income neighborhoods, there may be just one age-appropriate book for every 300 children.

That’s why Better Basics distributes books through all 12 of our programs. This year alone, we’ll gift more than 200,000 books to children across Central Alabama.

Give Books

At Better Basics, books aren’t extras — they’re essentials.

What We Need

We are currently accepting new children’s books only.

At this time, we are not able to accept used books.

To ensure donated books align with current program needs and can be distributed effectively, we encourage donors to coordinate with our team before collecting or dropping off books. Please contact Alisa Boone (aboone@betterbasics.org) for more information.

How to Donate Books
